OFconnect: An OpenFlow Software Defined Networking Library For Everyone

LCA 2015 was held at Auckland in January. OFconnect was one of 74 presentations selected by the committee out of 250 submissions. The talk recieved special mention in the final keynote for being the ‘absolute highlight of the conference’ for many delegates.

Project OFconnect provides a unique perspective on SDN by focusing on the communication protocol implementation. The library, built from scratch by CodeChix, abstracts the transport layer of the TCP/IP stack for Open Flow channels. It has been integrated into Kulcloud’s open source controller Mul, which along with mininet, is used to bring up an SDN setup.

The talk dives into technical details of the library and outlines the next steps.

The project maintains two separate code bases, one for the library itself and a second for the controller that has OFconnect integration. This is a FLOSS project entirely launched, implemented, and maintained by a team of CodeChix.

OFconnect is currently in its second phase of design and development. Contact us if you would like to join the team.
